From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
