Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended matchup that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51 million watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB reported this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series drew 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
