Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent defended 4 early opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
